Call for Workshop Proposals (Click here for the Call for Student Workshops)
The second Popular Palestinian Conference in the US, Palestine: One Land, One People, One Destiny: Together, Restoring our National Institutions, Reclaiming our Rights, Empowering our Community, is scheduled to take place on October 29-31, 2010 in Chicago.
The Conference’s primary goal is to empower our community in the US to assume a key role in realizing Palestinian human and national rights. As Palestinians, we have an obligation to become full participants in our people’s quest for freedom, self-determination and the return of the refugees to their original towns and villages. This is only possible by developing principled, nonpartisan, and effective Palestinian institutions in the US.
The Second Popular Conference, like its predecessor, is a response to the fragmentation that befell the Palestinian people as a result of a host of objective and subjective factors. It is an attempt to bolster the Palestinian liberation struggle by reconstructing the shattered Palestinian body politic in the Diaspora, including the U.S. There is a strong correlation between the effectiveness of Palestine-related political activism in the U.S., on the one hand, and the existence of vibrant and credible national Palestinian American institutions or networks.
The conference is a project that belongs to its participants; therefore we are soliciting workshop proposals from all members of our community. Since our venue space is limited so too is the number of workshops that we can accept. Workshop submissions will be assessed according to the guidelines below. All workshops should relate to the theme of the conference (Palestine: One People, One Land, One Cause) and feature the Right of Return prominently in the workshop. Workshop submission deadline is September 25! If you would like to lead a workshop at the national popular conference, please complete the form below, or download this Workshop Submission Form and send it to workshops@palestineconference.org . Please use additional paper if necessary.
